Frequently Asked Questions
Cedar Door Clay Designs
About the Products
Are your pieces truly one-of-a-kind? Every piece is handmade by Heather, so no two are exactly alike. Natural variations in clay, texture, and glaze are part of the beauty, not something we try to hide. That's what makes each piece yours.
What clay do you use? We work with three signature clays from Kentucky Mud Works: Brown Bear (dark), Speckled Turtle (medium brown with speckles), and Dark Star (white with speckles). Each has its own personality, and we let the clay lead the way.
Why are the edges unglazed? That's intentional. Our signature unglazed edge lets the raw clay show through, celebrating the natural texture that makes each piece unique. We believe the beauty is in what's real.
Are the ear wires safe for sensitive ears? Yes. All ear wires are gold-filled, sterling silver, or hypoallergenic, making them a great choice for those with sensitivities.
Do you sell stud earrings online? Currently, our online shop features only dangle earrings. If you're looking for something specific, feel free to reach out.
Ordering & Customization
Can I request a custom piece? Absolutely. Bobby specializes in custom wheel-thrown work, and we love bringing personal visions to life. Send us a message to start the conversation.
How long does it take to receive a custom order? Each piece goes through a 3–4-week process from clay preparation to the finished piece. Good things take time, and we believe you'll feel that when it arrives.
Do you offer wholesale? Yes. We offer jewelry and home decor with tiered discounts available for larger orders. We'd love to find the right fit for your shop. Reach out directly to talk through the details.
Shipping & Care
How do I care for my ceramic jewelry? Keep pieces away from prolonged moisture and store them somewhere they won't get knocked around. Ceramic is fired and durable, but like anything handmade with intention, a little care goes a long way.
How is my order packaged? We use unbranded packaging intentionally, so it can be reused, regifted, or repurposed. It's a small part of our commitment to sustainability and thoughtful studio practices.
Classes & Events
Do you offer pottery classes? Yes! We host 2-hour classes in Douglas, Wyoming, at Poppy and June, for up to 20 people. They're a wonderful way to get your hands in the clay and experience the process firsthand.
Where can I find you in person? We attend around 6 shows per year throughout Wyoming, with plans to expand to out-of-state events soon. Follow us on social media to stay in the loop on where we'll be next.
